Powerful, Helpful Prayer

Romans 8:1 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

The Spirit:
1. Changes our thinking
2. Produces life & peace in us
3. Lives in us
4. Will resurrect us
5. Helps us overcome sin
6. Confirms our adoption
7. The Spirit prays for us

Romans 8:26-27 ESV
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

1st The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness

1.It strengthens the believer when they pray in it

2.The prayer language is mysterious

For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.

3. You cannot understand it with your mind

For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying.

4. It is vocal

5. The Spirit prays but my spirit prays

6. Paul assumes everyone can do it

I thank God that I speak in tongues more than any of you.

3rd The Holy Spirit knows God’s will for our lives

Romans 8:27a ESV
And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit,

And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
