A Fun & Safe Environment for Kids
When your child goes to class, you can be sure they are in a safe environment while they learn about God’s plan for their life. James River Kids is all about creating memories and building a relationship with God that lasts a lifetime. Service times are Sundays at 9:00am, 10:45am, 12:30pm, and Wednesdays at 7:00pm.
What's Happening at James River Kids
We are currently in our exciting series, Hello God, where we are learning all about prayer!
Kids in Kindergarten and 1st grade experience games and lessons tailored specifically for them. At a young age, The Park shows kids that Life in Christ is exciting and there is nothing else like it!
Kids in 2nd and 3rd grade learn God's love for them in a way they can relate. The Factory is all about connecting Kids to Biblical truth in the most creative way possible!
4th and 5th graders discover God's plan for their lives in an unforgettable way! Kids are going to have an absolute blast in The Warehouse building lasting relationships with leaders and friends.
At James River Kids, we are passionate about presenting deep Biblical truth in crazy and creative ways kids will love! On Sunday mornings, kids will have a blast making new friends and learning God’s Word from funny skits, wacky games and amazing Bible teaching. With a dynamic mixture of large group and small group times, every Sunday morning is packed with fun interaction and personal connections, creating an atmosphere where kids experience God in a way they never will forget.
Come join the party on Wednesday Nights at James River Kids. Every week, kids experience Club Journey Live, a crazy, fun, engaging live stage show in which characters act out the week’s Bible lesson. In the words of one child, “It’s like a TV show, but better!” Complete with great prizes, awesome small group discussions, super cool leaders and tons of SURPRISES. Wednesday Nights at James River Kids will impact kids as they learn to apply God’s Word in their everyday lives.
It’s my child’s first time attending James River Kids. How will they know where to go/what to do?
At James River Kids, we LOVE our first time visitors. First time visitors (otherwise known as Guests of Honor) are given a special sticker at check-in to let us know they’ve never been here before. Our staff, teachers, and even students are trained to look for these stickers and make an extra effort in welcoming, comforting, and helping Guests of Honor. From the minute a child arrives at James River Kids to the minute they are picked up to go home, we want to make sure they have the most fun and easy experience possible.
My child is attending a service with a friend/family member who is in a different age group. Can they attend together in the same venue?
Because our curriculum is adapted in each venue to best fit the age group being taught, we encourage kids to attend the service in their appropriate age venue. However, if a child is uncomfortable attending alone, they may attend service with a friend or family member; we just ask that both children attend the service for the youngest child’s age group. This allows both children to fully understand and engage in the lesson being taught.
Are there any tools provided by James River Kids to help parents connect with what their children are learning in church?
Every Sunday morning, we send an email to parents of kids in kindergarten through fifth grade called the “Sunday Drive”. This email contains questions about the week’s Bible lesson for families to talk about on their way home from church, as well as a link to a five day devotional on the Bible Lesson for families to complete together at home. If I choose to attend one service and volunteer a second service at James River Church, what will my child do during the second service?
There are many parents who participate in more than one service at James River Church. Children who attend both services at James River Kids are pulled during second service to attend our SPIN program. These children are given a snack and have an opportunity to connect with friends and have fun. SPIN consists of engaging games and activities and review of the week’s Bible lesson.
As a parent, can I be my child’s classroom teacher?
Many parents are involved with their children in James River Kids, and our team is always excited to welcome new volunteers who love pouring into the lives of their children. If you would like to become more involved, learn more about the steps to becoming a James River Kids volunteer here.
